Fire-Rated Partitions

A server room or a staircase enclosure often needs a wall rated for 60 or 90 minutes of fire resistance — regular gypsum board doesn't cut it, and neither does a wall with unsealed gaps at the top track. We use fire-rated board layered to the required rating and seal every joint and penetration properly, since a single unsealed cable opening can undo the whole rating.
